Brian K. Fernandez | Owner | Yellow Spruce Roasters

Brian FernandezThe owner of Yellow Spruce Roasters, Brian K. Fernandez is dedicated to bringing his customers the highest quality coffee possible. In his early days as a business owner, he began as a coffee wholesaler and later on expanded his business to a retail coffee shop in order to serve the community and foster a friendly environment within the neighborhood. With this sentiment, Mr. Fernandez dedicates its Desert Garda coffee blend to assist fallen police officers and their families by donating two dollars to law enforcement charities. He has also sponsored a golf tournament to raise funds for families and healthcare charities. In 2021, Yellow Spruce Roasters was awarded Phoenix’s Best Coffeehouse from a local publication.

Prior to spearheading his entrepreneurial endeavor, Mr. Fernandez served as a wartime military planner in the U.S. Air Force over the course of 23 years of active and reserves duty. During that time, he attempted to expand upon his education but due to his consistent relocation, his studies were completed through the University of North Dakota, Columbia College of Colorado, University of Phoenix and finally graduating Cum Laude from Ottawa University.

After the conclusion of his active duty in the military, he worked as a police officer for the Phoenix Police Department for a number of years until commencing his retirement.

During his employment with the police department, Mr. Fernandez expanded upon his studies by earning a Master’s degree in Professional Studies (MPS) in Homeland Security from the Pennsylvania State University in 2017.

In order to remain aware of changes in the fields in which he has worked, he is affiliated with the American Legion, for which he is the Judge Advocate, American Legion Riders through which he was elected as Vice President, and the Phoenix chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Looking ahead, Mr. Fernandez intends to experience the continued success of Yellow Spruce Roasters. He attributes his success thus far to his perseverance and his own way of side-stepping obstacles.
